Example Problem in Algebra

The nine times of the number is subtracted from 63 and the resultant value is equal to 117. Find the answer for that unknown number.

Answer:

Let us assume that unknown number is the variable u. then nine times of the number is equal to 9u. And it is subtracted from 63 therefore 63 – 9u. Then this value is equivalent to 63 – 9u =117

The given algebraic expression can be written as

63 – 9u =117

Subtracting the value 9u on both sides we can get,

63 – 9u + 9u= 117 + 9u

That is 63 = 117 + 9u

Subtracting the value 117 on both sides we can get,

Then, 63-117 = 117 + 9u -117

That is -54 = 9u

Dividing the value 9 on both sides we can get,

-6 =u

This is the answer for u.

This is basic example of algebra problem.

Example Problem in Geometry

The angles in the quadrilateral shape are x, 2x, x, 2x find the measurement of the angles.

Answer:

The property says that the sum of the four angles in the quadrilateral is equal to the measurement of 360 degree.

Therefore we can written as,

X + 2x + x + 2x = 360 degree

That is 6x =360 degree

Dividing 6 on both sides we can get,

X= 60 degree

Therefore 2x = 120 degree

Then the angles of the quadrilaterals are 600, 1200 and 600, 1200

This is basic example of geometry problem. I have recently faced lot of problem while learning Non Isosceles Trapezoid, But thank to online resources of math which helped me to learn myself easily on net.

Example Problem in Probability

Commercial organizations use mathematics in accounting, inventory management, marketing, sales forecasting, and financial analysis. Mathematics typically used in commerce includes elementary arithmetic, elementary algebra, statistics and probability.(source : wikipedia)

In this article we are going to see some solved equations on business math and some practice questions on business math equations. Please express your views of this topic Compound Interest Equation by commenting on blog.

Solved questions on business math equations:

Question 1:

Total costs c(x) for producing one product is 1600 +1500x, and the entire profits can be represent by R(x) = 1600x - x2, what is the break even point and the maximum profit.

Solution:

Given, Total cost C(x) = 1600 + 1500x

Profit R(x) = 1600x - x2

At the break even points,

C(x) = R(x)

1600 + 1500x = 1600x - x2

x2 - 100x + 1600 = 0

It is in the quadratic equations form.

1600 (product)

/  \

-80   -20

\ /

-100 (sum)

x2- 100x + 1600 = 0

x2 - 80x -20x + 1600 = 0

x (x-80) - 20 (x - 80)=0

(x - 20)(x - 80) = 0

(x - 20) = 0

Add 20 on both sides, We get

x = 20

(x - 80) = 0,

Add 80 on both sides, We get

x = 80

x = 20, x = 80

Substitute x= 20 in c(x),

C (20) = 1600 + 1500 20 = 31600

Substitute x= 80 in c(x),

C (80) = 1600 + 1500 80 = 121600

The breakeven points are (20, 31600), (80, 121600)

The maximum profit R(80) = 1600(80) – (80)2

=   128000 – 6400

= 121600

The maximum profit is 121600.

Answer: The break even points are (20, 31600), (80, 121600)

The maximum profit is 121600.

Question 2:

John pays 125 dollar for his new dress includes the tax 10% . What is the original price of the new dress without tax?

Solution:

Given, Price of new dress with tax 10% is 125 dollar.

We need to find the original price.

Let us take the original price is x. We can form the equation as,

x + 10% x =125

x + 10x/100 = 125

x + x / 10 = 125

(10 x + x) / 10 = 125

Multiply by 10 on both sides,

11x = 1250

Divided by 11 on both sides,

x = (1250)/11

x = 113.63

Answer: The original price 113.63

Math Square

Introduction:

In geometry, square is a polygon with four equal sides and angles and also it is called regular quadrilateral. The term "square" is an either a square number (" is the square of ") or convex quadrilateral with sides of equal length that are positioned at right angles to each other that includes geometric figure.

A square is a special case of an isosceles trapezoid, parallelogram, quadrilateral, rectangle, rhombus, kite and trapezoid.

The diagonals of a square are perpendicular and bisect one another and also they bisect each pair of opposite angles. I like to share this Triangular Prism Surface Area with you all through my article.

Properties

A square is both a rectangle (equal angles) and a rhombus(equal sides) and therefore has all the properties of both these shapes, namely:

The diagonals of a square bisect to each other.
The diagonals of a square bisect it’s their angles.
The diagonals of a square are perpendicular.
Opposite sides of a square are both equal and parallel.
All four angles of a square are equal.
The diagonals of a square are equal.
If a figure is both a rhombus (equal edge lengths) and a rectangle (right angles), then it is a square. (Rhombus (four equal sides) + Rectangle (four equal angles) = Square)
If a circle is circumscribed around a given square, the area of the circle is π / 2 (about 1.57) times the area of the square.
If a circle is inscribed in the given square, the area of the circle is π / 4 (about 0.79) times the area of the square.
A given square has a larger area than any other quadrilateral with the same perimeter
A given square tiling is one of three regular tilings of the plane (the others are the equilateral triangle and the regular hexagon). Please express your views of this topic Volume of a Sphere Calculator by commenting on blog.

Formula

The area of square = (side) 2

The perimeter of square = 4*side

I like to share this Linear Equation Calculator with you all through my article.

Linear equation problem solving:

Methods of solving liner equations in one variable:

Add the same number on both the sides of the equation.
Subtract the same number from the both sides of the equation.
Multiply the both sides of the equation by the same number (other than zero)
Divide the both sides of the equation by the same number (other than zero).
Statements with problems:

The unknown quantities may be symbolized by say x,y,z
Translate the statements of the problem word by word (step by step) into mathematical statements, to the extent it is possible.
Look for the quantities, which are equal and write the equation by writing appropriate expressions for these quantities.
Solve the equation for the unknown.
Check, whether the solution satisfies the conditions given in the problem

Example problems:

Example 1: Solve: 1/3 x – 5/2=6

Solution:           1/3 x -5/2= 6

Or    3x -4x +10 = 2x + 6 – 8

or -x +10 = 2x – 2

Now by transposing 2 x from right side to the left side we have.

- x + 10 - 2x = -2

or - 3x = - 2 - 10

or - 3x = - 12

-1/3 - 3x =-1/3-12

or x = 4

Example 2: Solve : 3x -2(2x - 5) = 2 (x + 3) - 8

Solution :  Here the unknown quantity x appears on both sides. Thus before transposing we simplify the expressions of both the sides.

Thus, 3x - 2 (2x - 5) = 2(x + 3) -8

Thus x =9/8is the solution of the equation

Check: L.H.S. = 0.6x + 4/8

= 0.6  x 9/8 + 4/5

= 54/80 +4/5

= 27/40 + 4/5 = 59 /40

R.H.S. = 0.28 x + 1.16

= 0.28 ×9/8 + 116/100

=63/200 + 116/100

= 63 + 232/200

= 295/200

=59/40

Thus L.H.S. = R.H.S., Therefore, x=9/8

Thus x = 4 is the solution of the equation Check : L.H.S.

= 3x - 2 (2x - 5)

= 3×4 - 2(2×4 - 5)

= 12 - 2 (8 - 5)

= 12 - 2 × 3

= 12 - 6 = 6

R.H.S. = 2 (x+3) 8

= 2 (4+3) - 8

= 14 - 8 = 6

L.H.S. = R.H.S.

Hence x = 4 is the correct solution. Having problem with systems of linear equations in two variables keep reading my upcoming posts, i will try to help you.

math solver step by step

Introduction to Math solver step by step:

Mathematics is defiend as the “Queen of science”. Problem solving is the major part of the mathematics. In solving those problems, step by step explanation about that problem are more preferable. Students can clearly understand about the problem by step by step solving. Step by step solving of the problem is more convenient in categories like algebra, polynomials, geometry, and number theory and so on. In mathematics, quadratic equation teaching is also easier by step by step process of solving. Is this topic What is an Expression in Algebra hard for you? Watch out for my coming posts.

Example of linear equation in math solver step by step:

Solve the equations in a step by step process:

x + 2y = 14, 3x + y = 11,

Solution: Let the given equations be identified as follows.

x + 2y  = 14 (1)
3x + y  = 11 (2)

Consider the equations (1) and (2)
(1)               x + 2y    = 14
(2) × 2        6x + 2y   = 22     (subtracting)
–5x           = – 8

Divide 5 on both sides,

-5x/5 = -8/5

x = 8/5

x = 1.6

Substitute x = 1.6 in equation 1.

X + 2y = 14

1.6 + 2y = 14

Subtract 1.6 on both sides,

1.6 – 1.6 + 2y = 14 – 1.6

2y = 12.4

Divide 2 on both sides,

2y/2 = 12.4

y = 6.2

The values are x = 1.6 and y = 6.2

I have recently faced lot of problem while learning Partial Fraction Problems, But thank to online resources of math which helped me to learn myself easily on net.
