Introduction to Dividing Decimals

Before knowing the division of decimals ,first let us know what are decimals. Any proper fraction or improper fraction can be expressed in terms of decimals. The part of the fraction which is obtained when the numerator of the fraction is divided by the denominator of the fraction is expressed as decimals.

Any decimal number has ten as its base. Example : 5/10 = 0.2.
Now Dividing Decimals can be explained in two ways.
1) by dividing a decimal number by a whole number
2) by dividing a decimal number by a decimal number

Dividing Decimals by whole numbers can be explained by the following example.
In order to divide the given decimal number by the given whole number we have 2 steps to follow:
Step 1 : Use Long Division method to divide the given decimal number ignoring the decimal point.
Step 2 :After that put the decimal point in the same place value as the dividend has before.
